From the coronavirus crisis to a regular employment relationship

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many people to adapt their lives to different circumstances. This was also the case for Dennis Böllert. Due to the lack of care staff during the coronavirus pandemic, Dennis gave up his job to look after a family member in need of care.

After a few months, the situation eased and Dennis started looking for a new job. He came across a DPL job advertisement on eBay classifieds and met Sales Manager Andreas Künsting. He was able to offer him an exciting job as a driver at one of the largest steelworks in NRW. The two quickly came to an agreement and Dennis started at DPL at the turn of 2021/2022.

"In addition to my C driving license, I also have a crane and forklift license. So I had a lot of options, but I really like being a driver."

During his working hours, he drives a wide variety of vehicles, including articulated trucks, silo vehicles and turntable trailers. He transports raw materials and supplies for steel production within the plant premises. This results in a wide variety of activities.

He works a fixed shift schedule, so his daily routine is easy for him to plan. The 12-hour shifts don't bother him, because they also give him days off every week.

Due to the special shift system, filling in the timesheets was not so easy at the beginning. "The DPL was very patient with me and always had an open ear. Problems were always solved quickly."

Even as a temporary employee, Dennis was well integrated into the team from the very beginning: "For the most part, we had a good relationship."

After 1.5 years, it became clear that DPL had found exactly the right job for Dennis, as he did a really good job and has now been taken on by the customer. "Thanks to DPL, I'm now looking forward to a new chapter in my career and a settled future."
