Good career opportunities even in old age

Ernst Meier* is 61 years old. He is a trained electrician and has already worked for several temporary employment agencies in his professional life. After many disappointments, including poor pay and the countless kilometers he had to travel to his work locations, he turned his back on temporary work. In 2017, he ended up working for an electrical company as a technician. However, when this company had to file for insolvency, he gave temporary work another chance and joined DPL in spring 2022.

They invited him to an interview, where he met Medin and Semir Sekic. They talked to him about his options and the salary and in the end he left the interview with a good feeling and an employment contract in his hand.

"DPL took me to the customer in person to get to know my potential workplace. I had my first day of work there the next day."

His tasks on the construction site include the maintenance and servicing of cranes, conveyor belts, motors and gearboxes. He also carries out regular inspections.

He was continuously employed by the same customer until he was taken over in September 2023. The construction site where he still works is at the HKM plant in Duisburg. That's only a few kilometers from his home.

"DPL got me an assignment close to home, which is something I always missed with the last temporary employment agencies."

But that's not the only thing he particularly appreciates about DPL, he also values the punctual payment of wages and the consistently good service in all areas.

When asked what he plans to do in the future, he replies: "I hope to stay fit and spend the last few years until I retire in a job that I enjoy. I would also like to buy a condominium with my wife."
